Child Care Goals |
||||
| The goals of our Child Care are the basis
for the program and the activities of the children. Among the many goals in developing
the children's sense of self and real world, there are some more specific ones like: * To help the children to develop a positive self-image or self concept. Ex.: acceptable social behavior versus unacceptable behavior. * To help the child to acquire good health habits. Ex.: to wash hands before and after eating, to eat only at the table, to clean the table after lunch, etc. * To help the child develop self-help skills. Ex.: buttons clothes, turn pages of a book, put toys away, put clothes and shoes away, set the table, eat from a spoon and from a fork, etc. * To help the child to develop the ability to solve problems. Ex.: to expose the child to many different puzzles and activities in different levels of difficulty. To help the child to make choices, and to learn how to choose only one thing among many, at a time. * To help the child to develop social skills. Ex.: activities that enforce sharing, cooperation, taking turns, waiting for something you would rather have right now, learning the use of the words please, thank you, sorry, and also learn how to respect someone's sleeping time by whispering instead of talking loud in the room. |
