Child-Care Curriculum |
||||
| 1. Philosophy: Child Development Program
with emphasis on Piaget's Cognitive Development Program. 2. Broad Goals: To help the children to interact in an environment which will lead to the development of a positive self-concept, to help the children reach their full intelectual capacity following Piaget's theory, and to help to expand the children's awareness of themselves and the world around them. 3. Policies: In order to accomplish these goals we must have policies, schedules, child's habit formation, parent cooperation, and provide a developmentally appropriate curriculum for physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth through an integrated approach. 4. Discipline: Clear limits must be established for children. They need to have the security of knowing what they can and cannot do. Limits will be based on health, safety, and the rights of others (other children in our care, parents, and staff). 5. Napping: Napping policies will be established for every child, according to his or her needs. 6. Toilet Training: It is important to understand that in order for a child to cooperate in toilet training, he must have the muscular maturity to control his or her urination and defecation. The child must also be able to communicate his wishes to go to the bathroom or be able to get there by himself. In most cases, these conditions will not be present until the child is 30 months old. Our Child Care will not force, threaten, or punish the child in order to train him. Every child is different and develops at a different rate. |
